Our goal is to work with government, NGO’s, schools, community groups, churches and other groups to:
- Educate;
- Reduce the use of single-use plastics;
- Substantially reduce the incidence of littering and dumping;
- Engage communities to work actively with us in reaching these goals
Our Mission
Our Commitment to the Community
Achieve A Significant Reduction In Littering And Dumping, Both Coastal And Inland, By Fostering Partnerships And Educating And Involving The Public Through Awareness Campaigns, So That Citizens Develop A Responsible Attitude, Taking Pride In A Litter-Free, Healthy Pure Grenada.
G3 Activities to Date Include:
- Membership of Task Force constituted to advise government on the import of non-biodegradable materials
- Assistance with campaign to eliminate single-use handled plastic bags
- Devised interactive educational material for junior schools and trained Peace Corps volunteers to deliver them
- Attendance and presentation to Sustainable Development Council.
- Participation in GSWMA’s St. George’s publicity drive in correct ways to dispose of waste.
- Organised schools’ litter-themed song competition. Mr. Killa participated.
- Regular participants in Dr. Marryshow’s ‘Your Health and You’ TV programmes.
- Participation in many clean-ups, though we do not organize our own. We believe in prevention, not cure.
- Regular press articles, radio and TV appearances;
- Participation in Red Cross zika-themed Family Fun Days and Community presentation.
- Consultation and participation in Anglican High School’s Young Leaders’ anti-litter drive.
- Contributed litter theme to GRENLEC schools debate
Our Action Plan
- Educate the public on the hazards of littering and dumping.
- Institute campaigns in successive communities
- Ask sponsors of events to make adherence to a set of litter guidelines a condition of their sponsorship.
- Ask advertisers on radio, TV, social media, the press, to incorporate anti-litter messages in their advertising,
- Develop and maintain close relationships with media, GSWMA, GHTA, parish community development groups, and other bodies that can help.
- Devise a litter awareness curriculum for schools.
- Invite artistes and local parliamentary representatives to demonstrate support.
- Lobby for the implementation of the Abatement of Litter Act 2015
- Award G3 Certificates of Appreciation to individuals and institutions that have demonstrated over time a commitment to public cleanliness;
- Make sustained freedom from litter a criterion by which villages are judged in the Best Kept Village competition.
- Increase effective social media presence
- Recruit and assign people to work on the above goals according to expertise and interest.
