The Grenada Green Group has been engaged in the collection of plastic bottles since June of 2024, funded by grant monies received from Unite Caribbean, Grenada Hotel & Tourism Association and United Nations Development Program.
We are conscious of the health hazard plastic waste presents to us. Plastic NEVER decomposes. It eventually breaks down into micro particles which end up in our food chain & eventually in us.
Unfortunately, until recently & even now, much of the plastic waste produced, including plastic bottles end up in our landfill. This is not sustainable, as there isn’t much land left for landfill.
The Grenada Solid Waste Management is partnering with the Grenada Green Group in picking up the collected bottles @ our monthly collection & processing it for remanufacturing. The products that result are plastic lumber, plastic furniture, cinder blocks & other products.
We encourage everyone to participate in our program & while doing so, you help our precious environment, you may just qualify for a drawing for super market vouchers.
So come to Cammerhogne Park or to the bus terminus in Grenville of just drop your empty bottles into the many wire bottles & bins we have placed throughout the island. Watch for details on FB.
